"You can only do your best. You can never anticipate what your competitors are going to do.

"As a kid I never put myself in the same bracket as the guys who were winning medals at the top level, but what I did do was set targets on the way there.

"If you keep resetting your goals and you keep hitting them, then eventually you will reach the top."

Chris Hoy, from Edinburgh, is Scotland's greatest ever Olympian, winning four gold medals and one silver medal on the cycling track.  He is also a multiple world and European medallist.
