First sporting success? Bronze medal at my first ever judo competition at under 28kg in the north east of England, Thornaby Pavillion
Finest sporting moment? Becoming European Champion 2006 in Tampere, Finland, beating the current world champion and world number one from France.
Your tip for the top: Determination
First international / ‘big time’ call-up: My first major event for GB was the Junior World Championships when I was 18
How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? I feel honoured and privileged to be competing on the international stage and representing my country
How and why did you get involved in your sport? I wanted to do judo because some of the boys in my class at school did it, and I was a bit of a tomboy!
What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? Jonathan Edwards breaking the triple jump world record in Gothenburg in 1995, and it hasn't been beaten yet...
Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My Dad and my current judo coach Billy Cusack
Any family connections to sport? No
Who has been your toughest opponent and why? Lucie Decosse. She is a World Champion, Olympic medallist and numerous times a European champion. I have fought her on a number of occasions and the contest is always very close. She is known as one of the most successful female judo players at this moment in time

What is your most prized possession? My Mazda mx5
What is your biggest passion away from sport? My family
Favourite sport(s) other than your own? I love to watch football (Newcastle united of course!!!!) but I like to watch most sports, especially when the competition is fierce and passionate.
Top tips to relax? I like to read with some relaxing music in the background, or lying in a quiet park on a warm summer’s day.
What is your ultimate ambition? To be Olympic champion at London 2012.
