  • First sporting success?  Winning the Kelso mini-rugby tournament in P6.

    Finest sporting moment?  Winning the Calcutta Cup in 2006.

    Your tip for the top: Work as hard and much as possible

    First international / ‘big time’ call-up: 2004, against Australia

    How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? Very, very proud and quite nervous, sometimes.

    How and why did you get involved in your sport? I enjoy the competitiveness and the physicality.  And winning of course!

    What is your favourite moment in the history of sport?  I remember watching the 1990 Scotland Grand Slam – I saw Tony Stanger’s try over and over again, and that inspired me.        

    Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? Andy Robinson

    Who has been your toughest opponent and why? Dimitri Szarzewski of France. He’s a tough competitor – very skilful and a great scrummager.

  • Three words that describe you: Happy, laid-back and quiet. 

    Who would you most like to meet? Ricky Hatton

    What is your most prized possession? My dog, a beagle called Lucy.

    What is your biggest passion away from sport? Reading.

    Favourite sport(s) other than your own? I love boxing – I do some training to stay fit.  And I like watching athletics.

    Top tips to relax? Read a good book!

    What is your ultimate ambition? To win the World Cup.

    Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?  Still playing for Scotland.
