    Where do you train? My Fencing Club - www.salleholyrood.co.uk; Also at Herriot Watt ‘East Of Scotland Institute Of Sport’ where I work with my Sports Psychologist, Strength & Conditioning specialist, Nutritionist and Physio.

  • First sporting success? Learning when you get knocked down to get back up. Everyone has gets knocked down and its easy to quit but you learn valuable life skills it you get back up and work hard and this is what I base my life on.

    Finest sporting moment? The GB Team is a very competitive arena, we are all training hard and striving for success in our sport knowing only the best will make the grade. There have only ever been 2 Scot’s who won the British Championships - the most sought after trophy in Great Britain. I am one of the 2 only Scots to ever win and my name will be in the History books. I am Current British Champion and will be the first to win it twice.

    Your tip for the top: We were all born to Shine, It’s not just in some of us it’s in everyone. Life is a journey not a destination, it will take patience heart ache, sweat and tears but this journey starts with a dream and everyone needs a dream. With the right guidance your dream will become goals/stepping stones Turning Dreams into Reality.

    First international / ‘big time’ call-up: Malaysia Commonwealth Games 1998 I was 17 years old and won Bronze Medal in the Team Event. This was a fantastic achievement because Scotland had never medalled in the Men’s Foil team before.

    How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? I was very proud and eager to prove myself on the big stage treating it as an opportunity to show them all who I am/ will be in the future.

    How and why did you get involved in your sport? I had a friend that did fencing in his school and asked me if I fancied having a go. I was hooked from the start and it has transformed my life taking me all over the world. I have been a professional Athlete for the last 5 years.

    What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? Seeing a spark in a child’s eye; being amazed and spellbound by the Olympic sport of Fencing.                                       

    Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My family

    Who has been your toughest opponent and why? –

  • Three words that describe you: Determined, fighter, patient

    Who would you most like to meet? Darth Vader ;-) I would take him down

    What is your most prized possession? -

    What is your biggest passion away from sport? Spending time with my family

    Favourite sport(s) other than your own? Pool, Rock Climbing, Boxing

    Top tips to relax? Go to a Spa

    What is your ultimate ambition? Win Olympic Gold. Start up the next generation of fencers in Scotland to go on to do bigger and better things than I have.

    Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time? My company “Fencing Fun” going international. Going for the 2024 Olympics (lol)
