Your tip for the top
Believe in yourself and never give up.
First international / ‘big time’ call-up
I made the Scottish squad for the team event for the first time in 1999, aged 10! My first individual call-up was in 2004, in Austria.
How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country?
I’m very proud to represent GB. Not many people have the opportunity, it’s a great privilege. There are many people with hopes resting on me so I always try my hardest.
How and why did you get involved in your sport?
When I was eight-years-old my neighbour invited me to come and have a go. I loved it so kept going and became the flyer (person on the top) for the Scottish team.
What is your favourite moment in the history of sport?
Chris Hoy winning three gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. He didn’t always have the best facilities but proved that hard work can get you anywhere.
Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career?
Nadia Zulow – a German vaulter who was champion of Europe and the world for five years.
Any family connections to sport?
My parents both played sport at school and university level, that aside I have no other connections.
Who has been your toughest opponent and why?
A German vaulter called Anja Barwig. She was second in Europe this year. Germany are well known for excellent vaulters and only twice has a non-German won the championships.
