    Coach: I am now the ‘attack’ coach for the Scotland Rugby Squad, as I finished playing in 2007. 

    Date and place of Birth: 1973 in Edinburgh. 

    Where do you train? Murrayfield Stadium. 

    Education: Galashiels Academy, Edinburgh University and Aston University. 

    Where do you live? Scottish Borders. 

    What is your nickname? Toony (or sometimes Tin-Tin).

  • First sporting success? Winning  the league, Scottish cup and Melrose sevens with Gala in 1999.

    Finest sporting moment? Playing stand-off for the British Lions in the successful Test Series against South Africa in 1997.

    Your tip for the top: It’s all about effort, learning and enjoying what you do. Hard work should feel like a privilege.

    First Scottish/GB selection: I won my first cap at 19 years old against England in 1993.

    How do you feel when you represent Scotland/GB? I always felt immensely proud, and raring to get out and play.

    How and why did you get involved in your sport? I’ve played rugby since I was around 6 or 7 and was taken to the local minis by my father.

    Finest sporting moment in history? Dave Narey scoring in the World Cup in 1982 to put Scotland one-nil up against Brazil.

    Biggest influence? My family have always given me great support and encouragement.

    Any family connections to sport? My brother was England sevens manager in 2008, and played golf for British Universities.

    Toughest opponent? Australian stand-off Stephen Larkham.

    Who would you most like to meet? Tiger Woods.

    Most prized possession? A scrapbook that my dad put together of my career.

    Biggest passion away from your sport? My Family

    Favourite sport other than your own? Tennis, golf and football. I am also a close follower of the NFL.

    Top tips to relax? Get involved in something you really enjoy doing.

    Ultimate ambition: Be the best I can be in whatever I choose to do.

    Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Still developing sporting talent in Scotland.
