    Where do you train? The National Squash Centre at Heriot Watt University

    Education: BaHon Marketing at Stirling University 

  • First sporting success? Winning the Under 13 National Championships when I was 11

    Finest sporting moment? Winning the U19 National Championships from 2-0 down.  Representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi and Melbourne.

    Your tip for the top:  Preparation is key to success and enjoy your training or find something that does give you enjoyment.

    First international / ‘big time’ call-up:  When I was 19 and I was called up to play for the Senior Ladies Team at the European Team Championships, we won the bronze medal that year.

    How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country?  It’s a great feeling of achievement and Scotland has such a tight team that when you put the shirt on everyone is behind you 100%.  You find yourself diving for balls and the will to win and do well for yourself and the team is extremely high regardless of the opponent.  Playing for Scotland is a wonderful experience.  

    How and why did you get involved in your sport?  My mother was my squash coach… pity she was a tennis player!

    What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? -                                            

    Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career?  My mother, she coached me and managed me until I was 14 then she became my mentor. 

    Any family connections to sport?  My mother was a national tennis and hockey player.

    Who has been your toughest opponent and why?  Myself! Overcoming my own weaknesses has been key to me achieving top results.

    Who would you most like to meet?   My Grandmother, she passed away before I was born.

    What is your most prized possession? My squash racket and a necklace passed down a few generations. 

    What is your biggest passion away from sport?  I love cooking and have been on a few courses to learn new styles. 

    Favourite sport(s) other than your own?  I love tennis, touch rugby and competing in adventure races.   

    Top tips to relax?  Remove yourself from your sporting environment to fully recharge mentally and physically. 

    What is your ultimate ambition?  To medal at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

    Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?   Retired from a successful career in squash but still coaching and being involved in high performance sport.
