First sporting success? 1984 Scottish Junior Judo Championships- Gold.
Finest sporting moment? 2000 British Open Judo Championships, winning all my fights by maximum score. But also will have to mention walking out with Team Scotland at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, the crowd reception was amazing, a moment to remember!
Your tip for the top: Never Give Up!
First international / ‘big time’ call-up? 1987 Belgian Open representing GBR.
How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? Feels like an honour, inspiring and a sense of pride. It's the ultimate honour to represent your country and wear your national flag on your tracksuit and competition kit. For me it's what I train for, to do my best for my team and country.
How and why did you get involved in your sport? First seen it at an 'Open Day' at my local Community Centre, tried it and really enjoyed it. Liked wearing the judo kit! Also liked the variety in training, my first judo club liked to focus on personal fitness as well as judo specific sessions. We would go running on the beach, do circuits and spend time doing stretching, etc. I was able to travel and compete all over Britain and abroad from Tipperary to Las Vegas! Got involved with Wrestling firstly because I wanted to learn some variations in training and technique methods, and secondly because Scotland needed women to take up the sport in 'The Talent Transfer Scheme'. I then began to really enjoy the sport and different ways of training.
What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? There's been a lot, but one that springs to mind is when Kathy Freeman won the 400m Gold medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The pressure of a Home Olympics and being the favourite, crossing the line with what looked like immense happiness and relief and maybe a little glad it was over! I would also have to say when Kelly Holmes won two Golds at 2004 Athens Olympics, She never gave up!
Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My twin sister, Donna. My best friend and training partner.
Any family connections to sport? Twin sister, Donna. Also successful in Judo and Freestyle Wrestling.
Who has been your toughest opponent and why? Again my sister Donna. It's good to win but not nice to beat your sister! More because I am happy to win but unhappy she had to lose. But sometimes I win and sometimes she wins. At least when we meet each other in the final, we keep it in the family!

Who would you most like to meet? Ryoko Tani- Former 6 times World Judo Champ -48 KGS from Japan.
What is your most prized possession? My wee dog, Milly.
What is your biggest passion away from sport? Going for long walks with my sister and our wee dog, walking the West Highland Way and camping out, hopefully with dry sunny weather.
Favourite sport(s) other than your own? Running, cycling, rugby, gymnastics, triathlon, weightlifting, athletics, some watching, some doing!
Top tips to relax? Spending time on a sunny beach!
What is your ultimate ambition? Win a medal in Freestyle Wrestling at 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games for Scotland.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time? Hope to become a coach in Judo and Freestyle Wrestling, maybe a dual club. We need to get a lot more people to take up wrestling, especially females. So I hope to be able to encourage more girls and women to try out freestyle wrestling.
