First sporting success? Was finalist in the Scottish Age Band Championships at 8yrs old.
Finest sporting moment? Winning Bronze at the 2007 World Championships. Competing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Your tip for the top Hard work and passion combined can achieve anything.
First Scottish/GB selection Fought for Scotland as a junior from age of 14. First represented GB as a junior at 19 yrs old in 1998.
How do you feel when you represent Scotland/GB? After I compete I am proud to have done well for my country but while competing I never think about it. I am just thinking about doing the very best that I possibly can.
How and why did you get involved in your sport? Started judo at the age of 6. I think my mum and dad wanted to take me to a sport as I was very shy as a kid and I think they felt it was a good way to meet other kids and have fun. Once you have had a wee fight with someone it is very easy to talk to them as it breaks down any barriers.
Finest sporting moment in history? One of the most fantastic moments in sport in my lifetime was the Wimbledon final when Goran Ivanisavich won the title despite only being a wildcard into the tournament. High Drama, excitement, character and a good example of never giving up.
Toughest opponent? Tiago Camillo from Brazil. He is the current World Champion and twice Olympic medallist. I have very tight fights with him but he’s a great opponent. Strong, clever and great technique.

Three words that describe you? Hard working judoka.
Who would you most like to meet? I have been lucky enough to meet most of my hero’s in judo. I’d like to meet Ricky Gervais as I think he is a comedy genius.
Most prized possession? I don’t really have one. I have a watch that my nana gave me that had been my papas when he was alive. That means a lot to me. More frivolous I bought a pair of crazy shoes in London that I absolutely love!!
Biggest influence The boss Billy Cusack. Without him and David Sommerville I wouldn’t be the player I am today.
Any family connections to sport? No.
Biggest passion away from your sport? Food!!
Favourite sport other than your own? Tennis, Boxing and the UFC
Top tips to relax? Know that you have done all that you can do. When you are happy in the knowledge that you could do no more it leaves you relaxed and confident.
Ultimate ambition? To be Olympic Champion in 2012 and World Champion before that!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I would like to give something back to the sport that has given me so much. I hope to be helping some players who have the sane possible for judo as I have had as an athlete.
