First sporting success? Winning the Primary Schools’ Scottish Cross-Country two years in a row, in p6 and p7.
Finest sporting moment? Competing at the World Championships in Berlin
Your tip for the top: Enjoy what you are doing
First international / ‘big time’ call-up: When I was 15 I got called up for the Scottish team for the British Schools’ Championships. And when I was 20 I got selected for the British under-23 team for the European Championships.
How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? I feel very proud and honoured.
How and why did you get involved in your sport? My older sister ran, and encouraged me to take it up. She also taught me how to hurdle.
What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? Hearts winning the Scottish Cup in 1998, beating Rangers 2-1!
Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My coach and my family.
Any family connections to sport? My sister used to run and my brother is a footballer. My mum swam for Scotland.
Who has been your toughest opponent and why? Another British hurdler called Perri Shakes-Drayton. We are similar ages and every time we race it only a fraction of a second that separates us. We raced four times this year and won two each.

Who would you most like to meet? Alan Maybury, an Irish footballer
What is your most prized possession? A cuddly toy leopard called Lewis that I’ve had since I was very young
What is your biggest passion away from sport? Supporting Hearts FC – I’ve been a fan ever since I was little and share a season ticket with my brother.
Favourite sport(s) other than your own? Football and swimming.
Top tips to relax? Get in your PJs with your duvet watching DVDs!
What is your ultimate ambition? To compete and win a medal at the Olympics.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time? Hopefully relaxing after a very successful running career. Or still running!
