    Place of Birth: Dundee

    Current Residence: Stirling

    Where do you train? It varies, Dundee for my club training.  Edinburgh or Stirling for Scottish training.

    Nickname: Belly

    Education: Secondary school: Madras College, St Andrews.  Studied Sport and Recreation Management at Edinburgh University and then completed a Masters in Sport Studies at the University of Stirling.  Now doing a PhD!

  • First sporting success? I won Scottish short tennis championships when I was 8 and got to play short tennis at Wimbledon.

    Finest sporting moment? Winning bronze at the Champions Challenge and competing at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi – both highlights!

    Your tip for the top: Hard work, dedication and belief can go a long way

    First international / ‘big time’ call-up: When I got selected for a senior Scottish training camp in South Africa in 2005.

    How do you feel when you know you are representing your team / country? Excited and proud to be representing my country

    How and why did you get involved in your sport? I started playing in secondary school when I was about 14 years old.  I just wanted to get involved in another sport.  I was involved in the national set up for tennis and therefore was doing a lot of training for that and I just wanted to be involved in a team sport.

    What is your favourite moment in the history of sport? -

    Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My family

    Any family connections to sport? No but all my family are pretty sporty.  They got me into sport.

    Who has been your toughest opponent and why? Holland because they are the best team in the World

    What is your biggest passion away from sport? Relaxing! I also enjoy spending time with friends.

    Favourite sport(s) other than your own?  Like playing and watching most sports.

    Who would you most like to meet? Lance Armstrong

    What is your most prized possession? Not sure I have one, probably my mini or my phone!

    Top tips to relax? Watch tv or chill out with friends.

    What is your ultimate ambition? To represent Scotland at the next Commonwealth Games and to win a medal

    Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time? I think I will have definitely retired by then! Hopefully I will be working in sport.
